Lubbock County Detention Center at 3502 North Holly Avenue, Lubbock, Texas.

I have had the opportunity to visit and experience many Texas jails and prisons as a volunteer and the Lubbock County facility is the finest I have seen. The Volunteer program is the best around and the employees really care about the inmates. They are sincere and want the inmates to better themselves. The are more programs and classes dedicated to helping the inmates with life coping skills than any other facilities I have visited. The chaplain is dedicated and works hard to keep these programs going on a regular basis and the many volunteers he enlist are phenomenal. The education programs include high school diplomas. There are volunteers and programs for anger management, rehab for addictions, Parenting classes. The list goes on and the ministry programs are non stop. While we never want to see our loved ones locked up, if they have to be, this is a great place for a new start.
